Graphic Arts
I’m not sure I have an identifiable design aesthetic. Some of what I do is inspired, some miscellaneous, some serve a client, a brand, or work as a user interface or user experience element. Most of my work is a playful combination of photography, graphic design and vector graphics. All of it is fun to create.
Beer Labels
My wife and I have been brewing beer since 1995. Our first labels were created with a now extinct application called SuperPaint before moving on to Photoshop. The question is always – which will turn out better the label or the actual beer!
Jazz Mutt 2022
Description.
Strange times. After two long years without a Saratoga Springs Jazz Festival it looks like we may be returning! This is the sixth label in the Jazz Mutt series of beers.
The saxophone mutt still makes an appearance on the label and is also now on the necker that the printing company can now produce. The necker label is much lighter because of its small size. Any darker and the text and design is simply washed out and muddy.
The inspiration for this label is traditional Belgian style beer labels.
The wax seal K&D logo has also made its way into this design. This is the seal from the Rauchbier which is much more legible when printed than the Pils Jäger version.
The photo background at the top of the label is from of the underside of one of our fest umbrellas.
