Another stop on our tour of the Balkans. A city with history, arguably too much history. This is a sketch of the Latin Bridge. The far end of the bridge in this picture is where Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914 kicking off WWI. 1984 saw a high point when Sarajevo hosted the Winter Olympics, which was unfortunately followed in 1992 by the war that broke up the former Yugoslavia. In spite of the many building that still carry bulletholes from the war and the large cemetaries, this city has a lot of beauty, a wonderful mix of ethnic foods, and coffee that makes you weep for people who prefer Starbucks.
